Mare and Foal Sanctuary's new Reuse and Recycle Store

Mare and Foal Sanctuary revolutionises recycling

Chief Executive Sarah Jane Williamson has opened the Mare and Foal Sanctuary new preloved store in Newton Abbot revolutionising the way the charity handles all preloved goods. The Mare and Foal Sanctuary was founded in 1988 by Rosemary Kind and registered as a charity in 1992.

Retail Operations Manager Dawn Green said: “We love and value horses and ponies. The ability to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome horses and ponies – and to educate people about how to care for them – is dependent on one thing – our donors. Our charity shops are an amazing way for us to raise money.”

The giant 7,995 square foot warehouse now allows them to accommodate even more donated goods from browbands and bits, to saddles and even larger items such as furniture. With a staggering 95,319 items donated over the last six months, five new staff members and an army of volunteers, the charity is set to raise more money than ever before.

Sarah Jane Williamson told supporters: “The Reuse and Recycle Store is going to allow us to do even more in terms of reaching the public and helping them connect to our work.” Customer Rose Hill said: “It’s absolutely brilliant. It’s really light and airy and everything is so well laid out. I love it. I only popped in to have a quick look but I’ve lingered today.”
