BE launches second-year Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan

British Equestrian (BE) has unveiled the second year of its Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP), outlining clear steps to further embed equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the equestrian sector from April 2025 to March 2026.

The plan builds on the foundations of year one and aligns with the wider Horses For All Strategy launched in late 2023. It supports BE’s long-term ambition of creating “an equestrian community which is truly representative of society, where everyone feels valued, safe and a strong sense of belonging.”

Chief Executive Jim Eyre said, “We are extremely proud of the progress made over the past year and this has motivated us to continue to drive our work forward. This plan is about turning words in a strategy into tangible actions and results.”

Key actions include the introduction of an updated anti-discrimination policy, inclusive training for leadership, improved data collection, inclusive recruitment practices and federation-wide EDI learning resources.

Mandana Mehran-Pour, Head of Participation and Development, added, “Our year two DIAP reflects a shared commitment across the sector… I encourage everyone who cares about the future of our sport to read the full plan and join us on this journey.”
