British Equestrian reopens Coaching Bursary applications

British Equestrian has reopened applications for its popular Coaching Bursary scheme, which supports new and developing coaches across the equestrian industry.

The initiative aims to help individuals take their first steps into coaching or enhance their existing skills, ultimately increasing opportunities for people to participate in equestrian sport.

The bursary is open to riding school staff and volunteers starting their coaching journey, as well as coaches from underrepresented backgrounds or those working with participants from such groups. Successful applicants can receive funding for up to 50% of course and assessment costs for coaching qualifications offered by British Equestrian’s member bodies, spanning both Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines.

Jasmine, who completed her BHS Coaching4All qualification through the bursary in 2023, said: “Without funding from the bursary, I wouldn’t have been able to complete the inclusive coaching course. It helped me become more open-minded, gain more skills and get a better understanding of how small adjustments in my coaching can make my sessions more inclusive.”

British Equestrian Relationships Officer David Padgen added: “We are delighted to continue the bursary scheme offering for coaches, so we can help to support the development of this vital workforce across our industry.”

Applications close at 11:59pm on Sunday 16 November 2025.
