Dengie seeks customer insights to reduce plastic waste

Dengie has launched a customer survey to support its mission of cutting plastic waste from feed packaging.

The move is part of the company’s broader sustainability drive, which includes the development of a closed-loop recycling system. All Dengie feed bags are made from low density polyethylene (LDPE), which is fully recyclable and currently includes 30–50% recycled content. The new initiative aims to better understand how customers dispose of packaging and explore ways to increase the volume recycled back into future production.

“Our goal is to minimise our environmental impact at every stage of production,” says Dr Katie Williams, Technical and Product Development Manager at Dengie. “We are proud of the progress we have made using an increasing amount of recycled content in our packaging over the years, but we want to know if more can be done with helping recycle packaging after it has been used. This survey will help us to learn more about our customers’ recycling habits and assess the feasibility of a closed loop system”.
