Farriers’ Globe raises funds for Cancer Research UK

A one-metre tall sculpture, made from 194 handcrafted horseshoes, is bringing farriers from across the UK and around the world together to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The Farriers’ Globe, weighing approximately 115kg, has been created by retired Scottish farrier Sandy Beveridge FWCF, who brought together horseshoes contributed by farriers internationally to celebrate the craftsmanship, skill and heritage of the farriery profession.

Each of the 194 horseshoes has played a part in creating the globe, giving the sculpture a story that reaches far beyond its striking appearance. Sandy hopes the project will raise as much as possible for the charity, which he said has touched the lives of many families.

The sculpture and fundraising initiative are supported by the Worshipful Company of Farriers, which hopes to find the globe a permanent home in the City of London, where it can continue to celebrate the profession and raise awareness of the cause.

The globe was primarily on display at the British Farriers and Blacksmiths Association’s BFBA Focus 2026 event at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, on 26 and 27 September, and will be featuring at the London International Horse Show from 17 to 21 December.
