New President for BEVA
The British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) has announced Imogen Burrows, veterinary surgeon at Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic, as its new President for 2025/26. She takes over from Bruce Bladon at the close of BEVA Congress (10–13 September 2025). Kate Blakeman becomes President Elect, with James Crabtree appointed Junior Vice President.
Following her graduation from the RVC in 2000, Imogen began her career as a first opinion equine vet. She achieved RCVS Equine Medicine Advanced Practitioner status in 2014 and more recently gained postgraduate qualifications in Veterinary Professional Studies and Stud Medicine. Alongside her practice work, she is a VetGDP advisor, undergraduate teacher and examiner, RCVS Advanced Practitioner assessor, and currently chairs BEVA’s Ethics and Welfare Committee.
“I have loved my experience on BEVA Council over the past few of years, not least as Ethics and Welfare Committee chair. I have strong opinions and am brave enough to pop my head above the parapet to encourage conversation around topics I am passionate about. As a first opinion equine practitioner I hope I can bring a practical perspective to the table. I honestly never thought I would have the opportunity for the prestigious role of President — I hope it will inspire others to put themselves forwards.”
