UK livery pricing survey sets new benchmark for yard businesses
A new UK Livery Pricing Survey has delivered one of the most detailed commercial benchmarks to date for professional yard operators assessing pricing, margins and long-term sustainability.
Conducted in December 2025 by LiveryList in collaboration with YardWise, the survey draws on responses from 768 yard owners and managers across 81 counties. Its focus is firmly B2B, supporting informed pricing decisions at a time when operating costs continue to rise across the sector.
The data provides average monthly prices across a wide range of livery models, reflecting what is typically included within each package. While individual yards will continue to vary by location, facilities and service levels, the figures offer a practical reference point rather than a fixed pricing structure.
Average monthly livery costs identified in the survey include:
• Grass livery (DIY at grass): £155
• DIY livery (including stable): £201
• Assisted DIY livery: £305
• Five-day part livery: £516
• Full stabled livery (seven-day cover): £695
• Full ridden livery: £1,010
• Competition livery: £1,176
• Retirement livery (stabled): £792
• Track or Equi-central systems: £449
• Schooling, sales or breaking livery: £1,072
While UK-wide averages remain relatively consistent, the survey highlights predictable regional variation, with prices slightly above average in Southern England and lower in Wales and Scotland. However, the overall picture shows national alignment around core pricing bands for standard service models.
When compared with a smaller LiveryList survey carried out in 2023, the 2026 findings show a clear upward movement across all comparable categories. This reflects increasing cost pressures, including labour, utilities, forage, bedding and employment-related expenses, and indicates that more yards are actively reviewing pricing to protect business viability.
More than 65 per cent of respondents confirmed they have reviewed their prices within the last year, signalling a more commercially confident and proactive approach to yard management.
